USS Absurdities Mail

USS Absurdities (FX-1) preserves sailors’ and Marines’ stories, including the ordinary moments that might otherwise be lost.

What this application does

USS Absurdities Mail sends requested verification messages for story attribution and crew applications. Messages come from the ship’s designated mailbox, xo.uss.absurdities@gmail.com.

A story verification confirms permission to use a requested public name. An application verification confirms access to the supplied email address. Neither verification publishes a story, accepts an application, or creates a crew account.

Who authorizes Gmail access?

Only the operator of the ship’s sending mailbox authorizes this application to send through Gmail. Contributors do not need to grant access to their Google accounts. The application requests only Gmail’s send-mail permission; it does not use the Gmail API to read or search a mailbox.
